Dropping a Class Junior Year

Does dropping a class during junior year look bad to elite colleges (Stanford) and affect admissions chances?

I want to drop Independent Study English-Honors for Early Release next semester. I'm getting high A's in that class, but i want to drop it so that i can self-study AP micro and macro. I was originally going to drop independent study for AP Economics but can't due to scheduling conflicts. My counselor said it won't affect my GPA (tied for 1 right now), but will colleges think I'm lazy or something even though i am currently taking 4 AP classes and plan on self-studying some other APs?

Independent Study English is not a bad class, but i only took it for decathlon, and 2nd semester, decathlon is over. I can probably study for AP Econ in the independent study class but it is kind of distracting because no one else studies and we just mess around. Early Release gives me more freedom: i might work, study quietly(more productive), or get an extra hour for sleep. If dropping this class will not affect me negatively, then i would do so.

I say if you explain it under "additional information" that colleges will see that your logic makes sense.

Sorry for taking your thread ultraman, but what if you drop a class such as (AP Bio) because the teacher is horrendous and there is all but one A out of all the teacher's classes? A friend of mine can't stand the teacher's laziness and inability to help his students so how it would look if she were to drop? The administration has been getting TONS of complaints, but they don't want to do anything.
