Dropping a class or two?

Hey everyone! I'm a sophomore in high school, and my grades in Chemistry Honors (C+) and AP Computer Science (F) are really pulling down my GPA. I want to show colleges that I want to challenge myself but at the same time, have a decent GPA.

Would it look really bad to drop two classes at the semester break? I'm dropping AP Comp Sci 100% but I'm not quite sure about Chem H. My counselor said it would say "W" on my transcript next to AP Comp Sci, and I'd move down from Chem H to regular Chem.

Or should I just drop AP Comp Sci and stay in Chem H? I really want to drop out of Chem H because my teacher is just really tough on her grading style, labs, and tests. My senior friend said Chem H is even harder than his AP classes.

Thanks in advance everyone!

A C+ doesn’t seem too hard to bring up - it can be remedied by a few good quizzes or one good test. Stick with H. Chem.

Try sticking with Chemistry a little longer. Are you having a hard time with Chemistry?

Ignore my last comment.

Thanks for the replies preamble1776 and Animefan1998!

I just checked my grades right now, and my teacher added in some scores for a quiz we took before winter break and my grade dropped to a C. And yes, I’m really having a hard time in chemistry. :(

Do you not understand the material? I’m in regular Chemistry right now as a sophomore, but it’s pretty easy. Have you tried using any online resources to help you?

But yeah, for sure you should drop AP Computer Science.

Yeah, I don’t really learn much in class and I just go home and self-study the class notes. I’ve tried some youtube videos before and they are alright.

Have you tried Khan Academy?
