Dropping a major course that isn't required

Do you think it will be just as bad as dropping a major prep course?
I already completed the major prep courses for UCR UCI UCSD and UCLA
I only need this class for UCSB(which i prob can't get into because of math IP)& UCB which i can't go to even if i get in just wanted to apply anyway.

I already contacted UCR, since its the only one I've been accepted to as of now, they said it was fine.

I only took this course to have more units and perhaps make me more competitive as UCLA reps told me it would help. I am planning on dropping this course haven't really decided yet. I was planning on contacting any schools that accept me asap. To ask if I can even drop it, but do you think it will be as big of a deal as if I were dropping a major prep class??

At this point idk if I can pass this class. Other than with math Ive never had any trouble with any course I have taken, especially when it comes to my major. However my teacher is a bit too much. We took our first final and everyone received ether a D or F. I got the highest score and it was a 69, and when someone asked him what he was looking for as in what we should have written he said he wasn't about to reteach the entire section and we were moving on. So at this point I'm not sure I can pass and dropping it looks like the best option.

It wouldn’t be nearly as serious as dropping a pre-req class.

Given your situation, I think it’d be best to drop that class. The UCs should understand.

What’s your GPA right now?

@Cayton my GPA is currently 3.83

Excellent. The average admitted gpa for history majors last year was 3.74 if I recall correctly. You’re not a borderline applicant for UCLA, so you should be fine if your drop that class.

But email UCLA to ask about it before or after you’re admitted, just in case.
