I’m currently taking 3 AP’s; biology, literature, and 2d design and also a college credit astronomy course. I want to drop AP bio as it is such a difficult class in my school. The teacher goes WAY beyond the AP requirements and extremely in-depth, which is great for those who are planning on going into med or are really into science but it has gotten beyond challenging for me. I barely pulled off a B last quarter, and am worried that I might get a D this quarter. The people in the class are mainly kids who are in science olympiad, science research, etc and I plan to major in psychology and go into law. This class has been giving me immense stress and anxiety and going into tests actually give me anxiety attacks. I will study for 10 hours and still get a poor grade. I am worried that dropping could affect the schools I have already been accepted to (Bing, Buffalo, Fordham, Hofstra, St. Johns, CUNYs) and especially the ones I’m still waiting on (Stony, BU, Northeastern, Sarah Lawerence) I’m not too worried about the Boston schools as I don’t really wanna go there, but I’m really concerned about everywhere else. What should I do?
Are you getting As and Bs in your other classes? In your other thread, you said your GPA was a 3.3. Getting a C in AP Biology will not change anything. Better that you not drop and work your way through this current rough patch.
yea, im getting mostly A’s in all my other classes. my biggest worry is that i may get a D. I got a 38 on the first test of the quarter even after studying for almost an entire week
Just keep going. You’ll do better on the next test. Congrats on Rose Hill!
Email your colleges. Say you’re considering dropping AP biology because you want to (have a job and save for college? <= “It’s too hard” isn’t a legit reason) and want to know whether it’s o. Specify your transcript will indicate withdrew passing
update: Fordham emailed me back and said that dropping the class would not affect my admissions and to make any changes I felt necessary still haven’t dropped yet as im going to see how i do on my next test but now at least that option is open
I am struggling in AP Bio to lol. Lets keep going.
