if i drop an ap class after getting a "b" in the class will it negatively affect me when i apply for colleges. i absolutely hate the class and cannot see myself another second wasting my time there. thoughts?

if it shows on your transcripts, the colleges might wonder. It wont be life changing, but itll be something

it will defiantly look bad. the college will see a W which stands for withdraw and that will not help your college chances.
Out of curiosity what ap class is it?

What if a senior switches from AP English Lit (with an A first semester) to Creative Writing (not Honors) and takes the AP exam anyway?

DUDE. Don’t do it.

Many people withdraw because they are legitimately failing the course. Colleges might assume you were as well.

here’s a bit of perspective for you…

you’re not actually allowed to drop non ap courses unless under extreme special circumstances at my school (maybe one happens every five years), but in the case you do drop an ap course, you get an automatic F. no W, but a legitimate F.
my school is a college prep school and its well known for its matriculation data. not bragging, just saying this school policy might have had colleges in mind when reinforcing this rule. like various posters have said before me, colleges assume you are legitimately failing the course if you drop it. so don’t (:

a b in an ap class is hardly something to drop the course over
