i really want to drop an AP class that i am currently enrolled in (AP biology). But the only way i can do this is by withdrawing and taking a W on my transcript. Is this a really bad thing for colleges to see, i don't really understand the whole process because i have never heard of it before. I have 2 other AP classes senior year, french 3 (Highest level french) and pre calc ( which math is a struggle for me), and i am sure that i will suffer in the class because i don't have time to put in the work. I play sports, and involved in many clubs, and other volunteer activities throughout the community ( like coaching young kids in soccer and basketball.

I just need some advice on what to do!?

colleges i plan on applying to right now: University of washington
Boise state
Boston University
Temple
Purdue

I have until tomorrow to withdraw from the class, and just have a W on my transcript. If i withdraw after that i will come up as an " withdrawn fail" and i believe it will count as a regular F. In my opinion it would look better to take 2 AP classes and do well in them and achieve a good GPA, as opposed to taking 3 and receiving a worse GPA? Does this sound accurate or am i wrong?

What do you think you’ll get in the class? If your answer is B or higher, stay in it. Also, if you’ve already applied places, definitely don’t drop the class.

It’s definitely better than having a terrible grade and dealing with the stress of not doing well (if that’s the issue). I’m doing the same thing this year (I’m a senior, too) with AP Calculus AB. I would rather have a W, a WF in my case (Drop-Fail), than have nightly nervous breakdowns over feeling inadequate.
If you really are worried about it, just drop it. You seem to have a lot of other things going on, and as long as you don’t plan on majoring in something science-related, you should be just fine.

Yeah stress is a big part of it and i don’t deal well with it, i have suffered from anxiety problems to a point where i was in counseling and on medication, and its not something i want to resurface because of this class! Thanks for the advice, i was sure i wanted to take the W until i read that last sentence “and as long as you don’t plan on majoring in something science-related, you should be just fine”, i think i want to major in athletic training, but its not a for sure thing. Advice? Thanks again

and no i have not sent off any college apps yet!
