I'm a senior this year and have already applied to all my schools. My counselors have already sent my mid year reports, which are fine.

However, this semester I really want to drop AP Statistics. I managed a very high B for the first semester, but now I'm really struggling. I'm also taking College Algebra, so it's not like I'm dropping my only math class. I take one other AP class and the rest are honors courses.

My reach school is Oxford at Emory. If I am admitted, would they revoke my admission after seeing that I dropped an AP class on my final year reports?? Is it ok to email the admissions office about this, or would it leave a bad impression?

Colleges generally don’t like it when you drop an AP and it could factor into the admissions decision. I believe the HS notifies all the schools you applied to that you dropped the AP. My friend’s daughter was accepted to a school ED and was told that if she dropped an AP they would reconsider her application and could rescind her acceptance. Especially since you aren’t’ taking AP Calculus for your math, it would probably look better to stick it out and do your best. I suggest you talk to your guidance counselor and maybe just go for extra help in statistics.

@happy1 thanks for the advice. I actually took AP calc as a junior. I found another class I could switch into (rather than a studyhall), but it’s not AP…I would stick it out of I could, but I don’t think I can:(

I got a D in AP Bio and got into two Ivies. Ask yourself whether you want to stay with the class to learn, or just want to drop it to avoid a “bad grade”. If you are talking about a 4.3 weighted vs. a 4.2 weighted, I’d stick it out and not drop it.
