Dropping an elective senior year?

Hello everyone!

I'm currently a senior in high school. I'm taking AP Physics B, Band (elective), Spanish 4 Honors, AP Stat, AP English Lit, AP Calculus AB and AP Psychology.

I honestly thought that doing Band would be fun and an easy class to cool off during the day, but I've realized that I just don't like it. Everyone in there is very advanced and have been playing an instrument for years while I'm a newbie at flute. This class doesn't contribute to my GPA at all. It's just there as a filler.

I was wondering if I would be frowned upon by colleges if I drop this elective and take Study Hall instead. I have a job after school and attend 4 EC activities after school. I honestly don't have any time in my life to do anything, let alone practice for flute outside of school like I am supposed to. I thought that at least I would be able to do some of my homework, projects or studying to do in Study Hall.

Please, anyone, do you think that dropping this class be a bad idea?

It sounds fine to me.

Band and orchestra are perhaps the biggest time suckers in all of high school. They take a tremendous amount of time and often block you from taking other classes. You’ve got a great curriculum, you aren’t a music major, and it’s not an important EC for you.

Feel free to drop.
