dropping an igetc class

I know that I need to report changes but I was just wondering what you guys thought (preferably those who have some experience in the matter.)

I just got accepted into UC Davis and I don't need chemistry for my major but it is part of my igetc. However, I'm going to have to drop that class and I want to take it over the summer, is this going to be a terribly big deal?

What are your opinions?

contact them through myadmissions.davis.edu (or whatever the link is).

i didn’t do igetc, i did L&S requirements; my contact at Davis said I’m fine if i drop english 5.

Id love to drop my anthro class.

but anthro is so fun!!!

NOT when you are majoring in Math Economics

ah… that makes sense. :)

your admissions will be rescinded. the only classes you can take in the summer are major requirements. sorry. just stick it out!

lsgpep, that’s not what i was told by a uc davis admissions person.

it depends on which class, but with me, since i’ve done two english classes already, and am dropping a 3rd, i’m still fine.

well that what i was told by ucla rep, cal rep , and as stated in my conditions of acceptance for davis and irvine.

davis online conditions said the same for me with english 5, but since i’ve done two english classes, my admissions rep said it’s fine.

the important advice is contact the school and see what’s up.

Well i just think that they want everyone to finish as much if not all by the spring. if not the number of applicants would be greater.
ilivefree: u finish your two english course as ask by igetc, so why would you need to complete a third? your done wit your requirement so you that english 5 class was just an extra class.

i thought english 5 was required by igetc.

What is English 5 at your cc? take a look at your other courses you have completed, you might have sufficed the requirement with another course you’d taken or are taking. I can only assume English 5 the critical thinking requirement-
btw ilivefree, I am not trying to be an ass or anything, I just would not like someone’s admission to be pulled because they are looking onto summer school as one more chance. :)

i took 2 semesters of english/composition. english 5 = critical thinking

do i have to take it? i already emailed my prof that i won’t be dropping and that i hope she’ll be professional. we had it out over spring break.

Okay I just heard back from Davis, and they said it was fine. I just need to turn in my transcripts by September 1.

^
Yeah you should be fine. [:

P.S.-Transcripts that late? Oh, right, summer courses!

i wanna drop my college algebra class…
its an IGETC requirement…do u think ucla will care?
haha i wish they wouldn’t

yep, you need to have a college level math completed PRIOR to the summer before transfer.

i also called ucla and cal today; they said i can drop english 5 if i have completed all the requirements of letters & sciences.

ah crap
wishful thinking…i seriously hate that class
it’s ruining my life! lol

i dropped biology, but i don’t think it is part of IGETC class because it is bio without a lab. do you think it will be a problem? ( UCSB Btw) I’m also not sure if without it I’ll have 60 units but I heard that UCSB lets you take like 2 classes over the summer to complete the 60 units.
help!?!!
