I'm considering dropping AP French for AP Physics B. I'm planning on going into a STEM field, probably engineering.
So far I've taken three years of French. Do you think it would be okay to take AP Physics B instead? I've been told that colleges strongly prefer four years..Princeton in particular.
I could probably arrange to take my fourth year as dual enrollment at a local community college over the summer or perhaps during the fall.

It seems like you have it all planned out. You should be fine, IMO…

If you’re looking into a STEM career AP physics will look much better. It indicates a strong background and a developing interest.

When colleges say “prefer” that is not a reliable statement. It could mean that the majority of the the accepted students took 4 years, but not all of them did.

It is absolutely ok to take AP Physics B instead of a fourth language for Princeton. My sister took AP Physics C instead of Spanish IV and got in and attends; I took AP Microecon instead of Spanish IV and will be attending Princeton in the fall.
