I've got yet another problem with my schedule

I took Calc AB last year and did really well in that class so this year I'm taking AP Stats at school and AP Calc BC online since my school doesn't offer it as a class. I really don't like how the class is set up, we've had 3 review worksheets with no review whatsoever that took everyone 2-4 hours each and then we just jumped into where we left off in calc AB which is integration tricks like trig sub, partial fractions etc. It's like they expect you to remember every little detail from AB. The class is taking me a little less than 1.5 hours per night (now that we started normal lessons) to get through the online lecture and homework and then scan it to the teacher.

Basically I don't like it at all but I want to major in chemical engineering so would having AP Stats as my only math class senior year hurt me? I mean I am taking AP chemistry and AP physics c too but stats is kind of a joke so I'm not sure. Or should I just bite the bullet and stick through calc BC?

If you drop BC and then go to college starting in calculus 2, you will be expected to know the calculus 1 (≈ high school calculus AB). College calculus 2 will cover material faster than high school calculus BC that starts from where AB left off, since college calculus 2 is a semester long course.

How well did you do in calculus AB and on the associated AP test?

@ucbalumnus I think it’s too late to enroll in calculus 2 for the fall 2014 semester but I could for spring 2015 I think.
I don’t want to do that because the CC is pretty far away and in the complete opposite direction of my high school which is somewhat far too and gas is expensive. I have 2 part time jobs (kind of) as well as 5 other APs and all these other extra curriculars so I don’t think I would have time for a college course. This one of the main reasons I want to drop BC actually. It’s the class that is eating into my workload the most.

Since your school doesn’t offer AP Calc BC, you should be fine not taking it. Colleges will see that it wasn’t offered so it will not hurt your application. I’d encourage my child to go ahead and drop it.

You are perfectly fine. You have already maxed out the math courses your school offered and you have already taken Calc AB. Adcom would not hold it against you if your school does not offer that class. On the sample schedule for my D’s engineering program, they put Calc1 and Calc2 in freshmen year as they consider that as a norm although many students would start with Calc3.
