<p>It basically means that it won't show on your permanent transcript that you withdrew from that particular class during the early stages of the semester because of various reasons i.e. too difficult of a class, too boring etc... You generally wouldn't want a "W" on your transcript if your looking for a job or applying to graduate school</p>
