Dropping out of AP Psychology as a senior second semester affects college decision?

I am a Senior with a 4.3 GPA and currently deciding to drop the AP Psychology class in which I planned in taking next semester (in which starts next Tuesday) because I am extremely stressed out just by the regular Psychology in which I took first semester because I have 3 other AP classes in which I am taking behind it. Taking AP Psychology will mark the destruction of my mental health for sure.

Since I have applied to several colleges already, I have reported that I'm taking AP Psychology next semester. This means that I have to contact them, telling them I am no longer taking the class. Will this affect the college decisions? Will it cause them to deny me? If so, is it worth it or not?

PS: I have yet to receive any letters of acceptance or denial from any of the schools

If you think you can get a C+ or better, don’t drop it. You’re a second semester senior.

AP Psychology is a really easy course but whatevs you want.

I’m not exactly the best person at history (I’m more of a math geek) and the only other AP history class I have taken was European History… I got a high B (actually a 90.42 that was kept as a B :() and that required aggressive, long study sessions in which drain my brain and my time.

Psychology is not even a course in which I am really interested in, I mean I feel like I’m going to pass out just looking at the book. I regret taking it a ton.

I really feel that if I take AP Psychology, I will stress out so much that my hair will fall off.

OK, I think you’re being a little dramatic, but if you want to drop it, then do it.

Nobody but the adcoms where you applied knows the exact answer. If you are still taking 3 APs you are taking a challenging load in my view. But I’m not one of the adcoms reviewing your file. From the way you talk about it, its better to run the risk of some unlikely event and drop the class instead of keeping it and blowing up. Be warned that you’ll never know if dropping this class was the cause if you don’t get in; nobody is going to tell you (or write in your file, for that matter) “Well, Joe was in until we saw that he dropped AP Psych”. So be prepared to deal with uncertainty should you go this road.
