dropping spanish 4 second semester

ive never been good at foreign languages im currently just clinging to a B- in Spanish 4 which is very low for me. I normally would try to tough it out and work at it but I had a talk with my teacher. She told me I am lacking some of the fundamentals and highly recommends me to drop it because it's not gonna be possible for me to succeed with me lacking in the basics. I currently have no problem dropping this class and Id rather learn the language at my own pace. My concern is how colleges would view this. Im not applying to any super competitive schools just several public universities basically the Big Ten sports conference. If I were to explain Im lacking in the basics and my teacher recommended I drop the class would there really be a problem. I listed this class as one of my 1st and 2nd semester current courses. So I believe if I drop this class I am required to notify all the colleges I applied to.

So to recap:
Should I drop the class?
Would it really effect a decision if its just one less semester?
Am I required to notify all the colleges I applied to of the schedule change?

I dont no if this is really that big of a deal but every college presentation i went to said if your senior schedule changes you are required to notify us.

Also what impact would it have if I just forgot to notify the colleges.

is it 2nd semester already?
My D didn't even take Spanish 4 at all.
( Spanish 3 was taught by rotating subs- who are not certificated in Spanish. & her school only offers Ap spanish to seniors)
If you have already sent in your prospective classes for 2nd semester, I wouldn't worry about it, unless you have additional changes, in which case a seperate update list will be helpful.
( if you are dyslexic at all, languages can be very difficult- it may be worth looking into if you have a concern)

i scored a 28 on the reading section of ACT and a 28 on English. In my spare time I read classics i dont think im dyslexic lol

Is there a language requirement at your top ten university? 3 years of language, 4 years recommended? If not, dropping Spanish 4 won't hurt your application chances. I'd be more concerned that your grade for this first semester in Spanish 4 will be a disaster!

I did the same thing with French and it didn't hurt me....although I did go all the way up to my school's equivalent of AP French....then failed the AP.

You can meet some colleges' foreign language requirement for a BA (eg UW) with 4 years of the same language in HS, your grades won't matter. One C isn't likely to affect your admission, likewise unless you are an iffy candidate dropping a semester shouldn't affect things. Check with your guidance counselor- colleges do require notification- about what is your best course of action.

my college doesnt have a requirement so thanks and i m just worried about a C which ive only gotten one in my life and i dont like them
