Dropping Spanish 4 to take AP Gov

I’ve been thinking about dropping Spanish 4 for the 2nd semester, so I can take AP Gov. I want to take AP Gov to get my civics credit I need to graduate (I’m a junior), and I’m not sure if I can take it next year. I’m just wondering if dropping a langauge would look bad on applications. I was thinking of maybe completing Spanish 4 over the summer but idk. It is either drop or pay to take the online class outside of school. I’m just not sure if dropping looks bad or not, especially if I decide not to complete Spanish 4 over the summer.

Is AP gov 1 one semester course at your school? Have you talked with your GC about making sure you can take it next year?

Foreign language is a core class so depending on what college you’re applying to, dropping it in the middle of the year might not look that good, even if you’re in Level 4.

It is a semester course. I talked to my counselor and today and she actually wants me to drop something since last semester I had really bad health issues that caused me to miss class a lot, and she wants me to drop something to make it little lighter which will probably have to be Spanish since it’s a class I can’t really afford to be absent in. Idk, I could try my best to take it next year but I’m just not sure. I was thinking of dropping my Ap chem class and taking it next year so I can get Ap gov and an easier class in while staying in Spanish but I think that looks worse lol.
