DU EA class of 2025

Got the Crimson & Gold, $17k with $3k dorms (which will be used, coming from NYC)!

Selective NYC high school, so stats can be interpreted differently, depending on the college: 3.7 UW, 1340 (one time) SAT, 4 AP’s, one graded @ 4, LOTS of clubs, community involvement, internships, volunteering, so… not sure his was based solely on numbers.

Can’t wait until it’s safe enough for us to visit, maybe in the spring?!

Please let us know if there are admitted student SM groups… Good luck, everyone!

From DU’s website-

“Merit scholarships are our most commonly awarded scholarships. Undergraduate Admission determines eligibility for these awards based on high school GPA and test scores”

I feel like this sounds right too based on who has posted so far with their GPA and level of scholarship.

$27,000 merit

3.91 UW/ 5.03 W (we go to 6)
1360 SAT
Top 10%
12 AP classes (did not submit scores)
AICE diploma (similar to AP, classes weighted the same)
Good ECs I think bit nothing out of the ordinary - Bunch of clubs, started one small club
Job at a restaurant since June 2019

yeah I really think it’s practically auto merit based on GPA somehow (and scores if you sent them.)

I would think, if the awards were also based on ECs, our D might have been bumped up a level or two.

There is a link just above the video on the admission page that will let them join an admitted students’ ZeeMee group.

I think you’re right about auto merit. My daughter has lower grades, but she sent her sat score 1360 and got the 27k.

hm no then I wouldn’t be right! Lol. Lower grades would certainly have not gotten the $27k highest award! But maybe they wanted scores for that too. If anyone got the $27k award and didn’t send a score, let us know.

Congrats to all!
Daughter is in with the Crimson and Gold, 17k + 3k. She has 3.85 uw, 32 act. Good ECs.
She’s not super jazzed about the merit, but I told her it’s early days!

That’s what I meant, that the score was enough. She has a 3.8 weighted, with some special circumstances.

So she was 3.8 weighted and 1360 SAT and got the $27,000?

Interesting because mine was 4.2 weighted and 1390 and got $23,000.

Just trying to figure it all out because the $4000 might be the difference for us.

Congratulations to your daughter! I certainly don’t want to take anything away from her accomplishments.

Yeah I think it’s worth calling and asking about the merit if you want it increased and are serious about attending. D’s SAT wasn’t too bad just not where it really should have been compared to the kids at her school with the same GPA. To us, it brought her app down so we didn’t send. Now I’m thinking that was a mistake when it comes to merit here. Oh well. If DU is a contender in the end, I’m going to send her score and see if they’ll make any changes to her merit.

My daughter is an excellent candidate, with leadership and good ECs. It’s possible they recalculated her GPA, based on information provided. I really don’t know, but her GPA is messed up.
It could be major as well. Rutgers (nj) is the only college I’m aware of that lets you apply to different schools and gives different decisions and merit for each of them. This was a while ago, but my son (1560 sat and 5/300+) applied to pharmacy, engineering, and arts/sciences. He was admitted to all 3 but got $0, $3000 (I think) plus engineering honors, and over $10,000 plus honors college. The applicant pool is different for each.

@homerdog definitely worth asking. Things are weird this year. My daughter’s situation is unusual so she applied to a lot of schools and so far has been admitted to all of them. She just got into a program she thought was a long shot, and now we’re confused lol. She’s planning on asking for more money after her mid-year grades are in, because what is there to lose?

Congratulations! Can you share your stats?

Sure!
GPA: 5.13 Weighted (my school doesn’t submit unweighted anywhere)
7 AP’s, all honors
No test Scores
Average EC’s, nothing outstanding
Strong essays

Hope that helps someone! Congrats to everyone!

Good for you! Denver didn’t even have an essay so I guess you mean your personal statement. Are you first generation or legacy or URM?

And does your gpa reflect all As?

There is the essay with the Common App.

She said strong “essays”. Plural. Only personal statement on CA - so one “essay”.

Thank you!

Yes, I meant the personal statement and no, not first gen, legacy, or URM. All A’s except 2 B’s.
