Dual Degree Policy

Does anyone on CC know UMass' policy on dual degrees? Thanks!

If you are asking, can you double-major, the answer is yes.

If you are asking, can you double-major and graduate in four years without exceeding the in-state credit limit, the answer is, it depends on the majors, how much overlap there is, and whether you can work the scheduling out. I don’t know any details for the majors, you will have to check with the departments to ask questions.

(The instate credit limit is a policy that, after you have earn 118% of the credits needed to graduate (not counting AP credit) you start paying out-of-state tuition rates.)

Hope this helps.

Hi notrichenough,

do you have any links from umass that state that the instate credit limit doesn’t count AP credit? I’m going to go over the limit if my AP credit counts and can’t find anything on their website.

I don’t remember where I saw that, or if someone told me.

It makes sense because the taxpayers of MA are not subsidizing your AP credits.

I would ask them, it would be good to get verification. Maybe I’ll fire an email to the bursar.

Ok, I sent an email to the bursar. I’ll let you know what I hear.
