Dual enrollment advice

I’m a junior in HS rn and I’m taking multivariable and a CS course at my local instate college

Corona has been really rough and my grades slipped to a C and a B

Do I have to report this to colleges during college applications on my transcript since its not part of my graduation and does this hinder my chances at elite colleges. It doesn’t affect my HS GPA but it looks kinda bad.

Any ideas of what I should do?

You are supposed to forward a transcript from each HS and College you attend. Yes you need to send the info. If you can still withdraw you could get by sending in the W.

BTW, why aren’t you taking them under dual enrollment?

Yes, you will have to report your grades. A student that is taking MVC as a Junior in HS but gets a ‘C’ is going to be a confusing application to an AO. Generally, confusing an AO is not a good thing.

Do what you can to pull your grades up, but stop worrying about them. MVC is a second year university-level course. Getting a C in that as a junior in high school is not going to be held against you.

Do what you can to pull them up if there still is time this semester, but other than that stop worrying about these grades. Focus on what you will do next semester.

And yes, you have to send the transcript. There’s no way around that. For the rest of your life whenever you apply for admission to a degree program at an accredited college or university in the US, or you apply for a job that requires all of your transcripts, you will have to have this transcript sent. So don’t lose the contact information for the transcript office at that university.

Yes, you will have to show those grades. Are you able to retake the math class next semester or 1st semester junior year? If you are able to, i would suggest doing that and getting a higher grade. Since you are a junior, you still have time.

Little update: I did some homeworks and talked to the professor. I pulled the CS to a B and the MVC to a A-. Since its not on my HS transcript do you know if its going to be a negative towards me in college apps next year?

I take them under dual enrollment

If you are taking them under Dual Enrollment they should be on your HS transcript. By definition Dual Enrollment means you are getting credit for both HS and college.

Regardless of whether they are on your high school record, they will be on your college record that you will have to show colleges that you apply to.

Being on your high school record may affect things like high school class rank.

OK, so to clarify the “dual enrollment” program is the school district paying for my courses at local colleges. I don’t think its on my HS transcript since it doesn’t count towards math graduation requirement.

When you apply to college, you will send your HS transcript and your university transcript. What any place you apply to decides to make of both sets of records is up to them. One B in a college-level class will not result in you being denied admission anywhere. Your overall record is what will matter. So stop losing sleep over this one.

@Erin_s_Dad all Dual enrollment means is that a HS student is taking College courses at the same time as HS courses. Enrolled at both schools. Not every school puts them on the HS transcript. In fact, not having them on a HS transcript can be beneficial, some colleges won’t take dual enrollment credits if they are also towards HS completion or on the HS transcript.

@2022babiiiie you pulled your grades up nicely. At this point, I wouldn’t worry anymore.
As previously said, when you apply to colleges, you will have to show both your HS transcript and transcript of any college classes you have taken.
