Hello everyone.

I am a junior taking dual enrollment Comp 1 on campus at my school. I currently have a low "B" in the class and I was wondering how much of an effect it would have on me.

What I'm asking is if the grade will be counted in my college GPA. Starting my freshman year of college with a 3.0 is not my plan. If it does count then I would want to take DE Oceanography or DE Marine Biology to raise the grade.

Do colleges exclude dual enrollment and just count that you got credit for the course? I know it is an important factor when colleges look at my transcript, but I'm wondering if it will lower my college GPA even though I'm not in college yet.

Thanks!

Each college/university decides for itself which courses taken at other colleges/universities will transfer for credit, and which won’t. Likewise, each sets its own policy about including the grade earned at another institution in the calculation for GPA. Many simply record the transferred coursework at “X credits in Y equivalent to Course Z” on their transcripts, and don’t record the grade at all.

If you know which colleges/universities you will be applying to, you would need to contact the Registrar’s Office at each of them and ask how they handle transfer credits from DE courses, and how they would record this specific course from the college/university that is offering it at your school.
