I'm in 10th gr. and I am concerned because I am about to take a dual enrollment Pre-Cal course. I'm wondering if anybody knows whether or not my grade at the end of the year for that course will be calculated in my GPA if i attend a public university of California, specifically UC Berkley or UCLA, after all, it is a college course? First day of class my teacher intimated us saying that only a few people in her class end up with A's and B's, so i just don't wanna mess up my college GPA before even actually going to college, kind of how I unknowingly messed up my high school GPA by taking Honors courses in middle school..

While a course taken at another college can be accepted by your future four year college, it simply gives you credit for the equivalent class and some units towards the totals you need for a degree. It does not participate in the calculation of your GPA. It has to be that way because different institutions have their own approach to grading and standards. Each college you attend has its own GPA - if you go to more than one sequentially you will have more than one GPA. There are exceptions - GPA is transferrable between the UC campuses and for some education abroad programs, for example, but in general and certain for high school courses, the answer is no, it will not affect your GPA.

Thanks for such a thorough and helpful answer. Really cleared all doubt.

and if it was correct, it would be even better.

JK - too early to be serious yet.
