Dual enrollment question - Chemistry

I’m not sure if anyone here will have an answer to this one . . . will it matter to UF if my high school senior DS takes CHM 2045 at our community college, or our local state university (both of them are about 5 minutes from our house). He has done most of his DE credits at CC, but he did an engineering summer class at the university and he’s eligible to take Chem there now that he’s in their system too.

Our community college labels it CHM 1045 (instead of 2045) but it’s the same class.

I have a vague memory, and I can’t remember where I read this (or if I dreamed it), that UF prefers community college for DE here in Florida? Then again I’m not sure why it would make a difference. If anything I would think the university class would be slightly more impressive (??).

He’s planning to apply to UF for fall of 2016.

It may be an issue, if he enrolls at the local state university, before he attends UF. Then he becomes a “UCF” or “UWF” student who is attempting to transfer to UF… Check with the folks at UF. Taking DE classes is a special case…

After he’s enrolled at UF, it’s not a problem taking classes at a CC or state college. However, based on your major, you may get some push back from the advisor on certain classes. For example, if you’re an engineering major, they would “prefer” that you took all of your calc classes at UF (but that doesn’t stop folks from taking Calc at a CC over the summer…).
