what's the point of dual enrollment? should I do it? does anyone know how well DE students did once they enter college? Im a sophomore and an A's, B's and C student. since I've started high school, I gotten one C every quarter except for my final grades last year, I managed to get all A's and B's. recently, Ive had a wake-up call and decided to completely focus on school again. I'm currently taking 2 AP's. will doing DE improve my chances of getting into a great college? possibly an ivy? (of course, ill also work on my EC's and grades and prepare for SAT'S) I'm really worried that it's too late for me to improve my chances.

I wouldn’t say ivy but overall dual enrollment can improve your GPA and I would assume look better on college applications.
I plan on doing DE next sem so it will open up my schedule my jun/senior year (as I wont have to take a foreign language or english my senior year)
Something I’ve noticed though not many people on CC mention DE in their stats. Is there some secret down fall to DE I’m not aware of?

DE allows you to gain college credit in high school. Different from being an AP class, the credit is guaranteed if you pass the class. Certainly a DE class will look better than a regular class offered by your high school. It shows to colleges that you’re ready for college-level course work.

The only downfall to DE would be if you happen to do badly in the class, or if you choose to drop the class. The grade you get stays on your permanent college record, and it can also affect the admissions process for some schools that you apply to.

I’d suggest taking it, not just for improving your chances, but to knock some of those college classes out of the way.
