I was browsing the website but never really found an answer. Is it possible to dual major or major/minor at cornell? Would it be possible for me to major in engineering and minor/major in economics or another business type field?

Many people do double major, which means doing two majors within the same college.
What you seem to be talking about is dual degree - doing two majors from two different colleges. The option exists, though it is harder than a normal double major because you would have to fulfill the degree requirements of two different colleges. Usually it takes an extra semester or two on top of the usual four years, I heard, but you get two bachelor's degrees.

Ya exactly, I already satisfy all AP Micro/Macro/Calc for Econ so that would help cut the time down.

Oh, by the way, you can only do dual degree between the private divisions (CAS, AAP, Engineering for sure. I don't know if Hotel offers dual degree, I'll have to check). That means you'll be able to do an engineering major with CAS economics, but not AEM because that's in CALS.

i still don't understand why that is.....i'm well aware of it though. could someone please explain what their reasoning is for this??? to pre-address the cost-differential: if you are in a contract college and take more than a certain number of credits in one of the endowed colleges, you pay extra anyway. this should solve any discrepancy. this silly thing doesn't make sense. seriously i implore discussion about this. someone let me in on the secret.

btw here is the dual-degree web site that i've viewed too many times:

and according to it, the hotel school (an endowed college) doesn't have a dual degree program. perhaps this implies that it has nothing to do with endowed or contract? i don't know. someone explain.

Thanks guys

bump for my question!!!! why, Cornell??? why no dual majors btwn contract colleges?????? why????!!!!!!!!!!!

Better ask Uncle Ezra...

oooo good idea!!!!!!!! i didn't even think of that!!! i'll let you guys know

ok this was from 1987??? so maybe it doesn't apply, but it isn't so cut and dry so maybe it can apply:

Dear Hopeful,
I'm glad that you are so fond of Cornell, and I wish you luck with your application! Your questions are important to keep in mind when writing your application and particularly during your interview. Cornell does allow dual majors, but there is a catch: it is very difficult to major in both an endowed division (e.g. Arts and Sciences, Music's home) and a statutory one (e.g. Agriculture and Life Sciences, where Communications is located). This is not to say that it is impossible, only that you may have to do a great deal of red-tape cutting when you get here. But here's a thought for you: although dual-majoring across colleges is difficult, there is no reason that you can't major in one subject while taking plenty of courses in another.

so help me God I shall cross that red tape...

hahaha

ok now i'm gonna ask him a specific question about it and see if he answers
