Dug up a bunch of people who COULD NOT see fin aid summary

I think this will finally prove fin aid summaries are definitely relevant.

I can't see my financial aid so it's freaking me out. UCLA has never contacted me throughout this whole application process. T_T I have a 3.93 GPA, International Development Studies Major.

Then later on..

i CAN'T see my finan aid info and i turned in fafsa. my gpa is around a 3.8 (i don't know the exact number because some credits are from another unit system) and i applied for an un-impacted major. like i said before, i think you can see it if you applied for on-campus housing on your fafsa. it makes sense to me... FA processes you first so they can get a head start on finding you dorm space.

UCLA
3.8 comparative literature. igetc and all pre-reqs done.

rejected.

So I think if you have high stats, and you don't see financial aid, be afraid, very afraid O_O.

The posts were pasted word for word, you can search them yourselves.

Thanks, kid. Looking forward to the update

If that was sarcastic, I know people are actually interested in this info, so please take it somewhere else?

How did you get sarcasm from that? I want to know if the theory work. Why would I bash on you for something that's informative?

If I was being sarcastic, you'll know. It'll be a full on assault.

Edit:

btw. You took the last part out of your original post. Now I sound like a jacka$$ saying "looking forward to the update".

Ok thanks Lack, because i trolled over 100+ pages of posts + posts by the same user.

I just assumed it because you disagreed with the theory in a previous thread citing it to be a bs loophole.

Glad you found it informative

edit: I took out the "i'll update more as I find" because there's only a certain number of people who bothered to post their rejections, let only reported they can't see the financial aid summary as well. That's all I could find in last years admissions thread from like pg 411-455 or something ;o

damn thank God! that i can see my finanicial aid summary.1!!

thanks kid, you've just made everyone who cannot see the summary sh1t their pants :D

There were quite a few who couldn't see their aid and still got in. so it's not a definite fact.

Sorry if this has been asked before, but are there those who got rejected to UCLA that COULD see the fin. aid. summary the week before decisions were posted?

I don't think so, though there were people who couldn't and were accepted. SO it works both ways, you guys, nothing is definitive until you see it on the decision site or more importantly, on paper... in writing.

i cant see mine yet =(

wow... harsh.

Indeed harsh. Very good GPA, non-impacted major, pre-reqs done and still rejected! Reading stories like that remind me of why I should fall in love with my 2nd choice right about now!

Opps, I forgot to add a disclaimer, but I only found 2 cases or at most four people that were not able to see their financial aid and still got in, one with poli sci and average stats i think and that dude was being coy about it. The other case really wasn't just defiant and seemed like he was telling the truth.

Of course If you can't see your fin. aid right now doesn't mean you are rejected, but you can't ignore there is a strong correlation with people who can't see their fin aid + rejection with people who could see their financial aid that have been accepted.

Not ONE person cited being able to see their financial aid and got rejected after.

Also, there was one additional case for someone who had a 3.7+ in psych that couldn't see her fin. aid got rejected only because she didn't do 2 pre-reqs which she later appealed citing she had finished it in hs.

Furthermore, every case I have posted in my initial post have nearly all made it to their second choice I think (Berkeley, one of them USC I think, and my memory is freakishly good, it scares most of my friends).

Really though, I am one of those extreme skeptics about theories such as this, but everything I have found and reasoned by myself just adds up to this being legit. I feel like I've looked at everything with an objective mind.

let's just wait for admission results, shall we?

For 200 innernets, see if there was a correlation between getting the UCLA alumni scholarship call and getting accepted...or getting the Berkeley FA verification letter and admission...hell, you can make all sorts of correlations and charge people to see the results, hehe

I already talked to a friend at UCLA who confirmed that the alumni association is in no way affiliated with UCLA's admission department. At best, the call is only an indicator of the student being a competitive applicant.

:( [I got the call so I was bummed to hear that as well]

No, I think speculation is much more interesting, especially on forums : ). I merely presented evidence with my own subjective views after, take it as you will sir.

Also, I personally just spoke to UCLAri through AIM

UCLAri: Usually, if I remember, the key was the actual award page
kidRobot: oh
UCLAri: Only the actual admission letter is final of course
UCLAri: But seeing your fin aid is usually enough
kidRobot: Summary 2008-2009 Academic Year

Housing Status: Off-Campus
Financial Aid File Status: Complete
Financial Aid Notification (FAN): Not Available
Cost of Attendance: $22,974.00
Student Contribution: $x.00
Parent Contribution: $0.00
Total Financial Need: $22,969.00

kidRobot: so would this classify
kidRobot: as an Actual award?
UCLAri: Oh, that's pretty close

UCLAri: Sounds like good news to me

And that's about it. I'm not going to look into this anymore, as most predict admissions come out tomorrow till thursday!

Here's what I'm buying into

Seeing your summary is very likely acceptance.

Not seeing your award isn't necessarily a rejection, but it is a distinct possibility. Which sucks.

Thanks kidRobot for the info man. Damn, at least now I am prepared for the inevitable.

I'm so bummed I can't see the financial aid :(
