i have a californian friend who chose UCLA over the other 2 for bio. he said he loves it here and doesnt regret the decision at all. i think the UCLA environment had a lot to do with his decision and subsequent enjoyment of college. (i dont think money was a factor)

Duke is an investment banker farm and huge feeder into businesses and busienss programs...can't speak for the rest as unfamiliar with West coast schools, but Berkely I know has a great engineering department

Wait, why is Duke hands down better in Biomedical engineering? Is that different than bio engineering? I can't imagine Duke's program being "hands down better," but perhaps it's better, than Berkeley's program. I think that Business is only available at Berkeley out of the three schools that you named, but UCLA has a business-like major. I'm not sure about Duke. The environments and atmospheres are quite different. Go where you will feel most comfortable and be happiest.

duke has one of the top biomedical engineering programs in the nation, arguably second to johns hopkins. it does seem weird since i don't think duke's engineering school is as prestigious as the engineering departments at other schools, but their BME program is an exception.

and even though duke doesn't have an undergraduate business program, they do offer economics which is one of their most popular majors. i guess it depends which you'd rather do, business or biomedical engineering, because as DRab already said, berkeley is the only one out of the three to have an actual business program. but i also agree with what he said last -- go where you will feel most comfortable since they ARE completely different atmospheres.

Duke's main advantage vs Berkeley is the east coast experience for a native Californian. That and basketball -lol-.

Overall, Cal is more of a world-class university, while Duke is more of a regional school. Cal is academically superior, across the board.

If money is no object and you want to work on Wall Street and you're a big basketball fan, go to Duke (although UCLA doesn't look that shabby there any more...)
