Am I screwed in my attempts to get into my dream school, Duke? I got a B+ in a full year elective last year, will this kill my chances? Other than that I had an a- in history and two half year electives (I can’t take electives seriously) and all others were a’s and a+'s. Will that B+ kill me?
I highly doubt that one B+ would keep you out of Duke. If you have great test scores and a high GPA i’m sure you will have a good shot at acceptance.
A B+ in an ELECTIVE?!? Yes, Duke will throw your application in the trash. They don’t accept anybody who got a B+ in anything.
You might not get into Duke, but it won’t be because of a single B+. Duke doesn’t want a class of students with perfect GPAs that have nothing else – that would be boring.
