Thanks for clearing that out man! Was confused about how these things work haha

I’m from Bangladesh, South Asia. You? :)

@StraightDrive I’m from China Seems like the first wave is over and it’s still several days for the next one to come. (Thanks @matrixsurgeon) Big congrats to the admitted and best of luck to all!

@WinnieZ
What a coincidence! I am also from China and am on the wait list of Chicago and Duke. Just called the AOs yesterday. Duke AO said that thay had just started to inform international students while Chicago AO said there are only three to five places remaining now. Best of luck.

@Dingy1 that’s good news for us as far as Duke is concerned!
Guys, My regional admissions rep. is abroad on university business. I’ve emailed twice, only to get the same automatic response, which means i can’t get through to her. What do you suggest I do?

@Dingy1 wow thank you so much for your info! So they started… So nervous! Good luck everybody!

@Dingy1 So as of yesterday, they already started informing international students? Or that they’re doing that today/this week?

@noosjuice @WinnieZ
the ao said that they have just started…they will focus on waitlist this week. not sure what “just”"mean… i have heard no news on international waitlist this year…hope for the best

@Dingy1 I hope that they’ve just started reviewing files, not informing people cause I wasn’t contacted yet haha. Yup, same here, I haven’t heard news about anyone being pulled off either…

I think that this week and next week are the ultimate chances for anyone on the waitlist to get pulled. Lets hope it works out for all of us! And I am South Asian too except I just don’t live in South Asia anymore haha. #America

Same here, also living in US @matrixsurgeon but I still belong to the international pool. Anything we can do at this point besides praying? haha so anxious

@WinnieZ
I am considered American national cause of citizenship but I am still south Asian by heart haha. I guess unless one wants to buy their regional admissions officer and the director of admissions a new house, a BMW, and pay for their kids/future kids college educations, then yep…praying it is!

haha you are so funny! Fingers crossed for everybody. Please make sure to keep us updated if any of us hears anything!

@StraightDrive Hey I meet with the same problem for another school ( @Dingy1 UChicago, whose AO is on business till May 28th or something like that) But that school told someone that it’s not going to pull from Asian students. Not the same thing for Duke so be assured.

My guessing is that the automatic reply means the AO is not going to process emails as fast as she can in US, but it probably does NOT mean she won’t look at them at all-- maybe she just need a longer time.

@WinnieZ How do you know that Duke is going to pull Asian kids/international students living in Asia? Thanks

Lets do the classic prediction game: predict the total number of people that chose to stay on the waitlist and total number that get pulled!

I will go first:
Total number opting to stay on waitlist: 1455
Total number pulled: 267

I think the yield rate for this year will be around 46.5-47.5% as opposed to what Duke predicts in 49.5%

wasn’t @Dingy1 saying that last page at around 8:44amEST or something? We are from the same country, so I think the AO he (she) contacted should be the one speaking for Asian kids. I actually sent an email to him but haven’t get replied yet

@matrixsurgeon a little bit hard for me haha cuz I didn’t find such data for the past years. I would really, really hope they can pull that many people from wl!

@WinnieZ
Well they pulled roughly 300 last year and the number that stay on the waitlist is usually around 1300-1500 a year haha.

@matrixsurgeon wow that’s definitely a good news for everybody! The other schools I waitlisted only pull like 30 people each year Love Duke if they can do it this year haha

@WinnieZ
Yep, Duke’s waitlist takes a “good” number of people off of it compared to most other similar schools! The other schools that I have been waitlisted on (only accepted 2 others) all take less than a 100 from their waitlists every year.
