***Duke Class of 2021 Discussion Thread***

If I had to guess, I would say they’re releasing decisions on March 23, based on previous years

@CrabCakes735 How could RD acceptances be given just 2 weeks after the application deadline? What are you referring to when you say January 15th or January 4th?

There is a good article in Duke Today about the record number (34,300) of applications for the class of 2021. https://today.duke.edu/2017/01/duke-receives-record-number-applicants

By when can I expect to be contacted for an alumni interview? How important are they to Duke?

i applied before the december 20th RD deadline for alumni interviews, still haven’t heard anything. anyone have ideas?

@aaronhou2598 same here. It’s based on availability though, so we’ll have to wait it out.

@samc24 yeah, i figured but i’m pretty sure there are alumni in my area. some people i know (current college students) got an interview before.

The names Rohan Singh and I will be attending Duke via early decision!

Hey, does anyone know when the decision is supposed to come out? I know it’s before April 1st, but any speculated date according to the previous pattern?
Thanks

@ThemanX Last year, decisions came out March 24.

I forgot to send in my portfolio on the deadline date (yeah I know it’s pretty late but my credit card ran out of balance). Is this going to impact my decision a lot?

@tku980
It can impact depend on your major. What is your major you apply for…?

Hello! I applied to Duke on Dec. 12th to ensure I would be in time for their Interview Priority Deadline (Dec. 20th). I live in Southern California, close to Los Angeles, which generally would imply there’s an alumni close by me. I haven’t been contacted yet for an interview, should I be worried? I understand they can’t guarantee interviews but I did submit fairly early and I live in an area that would likely have an alumni.

@JemmaSimmons Thanks a lot! Still about two months away!

Does anyone know if Duke send out likely letters? If so, do you know when they normally get sent out?

@driven280 1/15 and 1/4 were referring to acceptance rates (i.e. 6.7% and 25%)

@vicangie Um… Poli Sci

@socalsam I think at this point, because their letters were due in sometime this or last week, I doubt that you’ll get an alumni interview if it hasn’t already happened. Don’t worry though- just send in an additional letter or something and remember that interviews are randomly assigned and hold little weight.

@MCurie wondering the same thing

@penumbra7 I got the invite today! He said it has to be done by the 15th, so there’s still time.
