Duke Class of 2022 Discussion Thread

@mfb2018 @orangeandblack21 But @DukeShama mentioned the class of 2014 getting the pre-decision email on Sunday

@junior1818 yeah thats why I’m not completely sure… honestly who knows at this point

Nothing?

Nothing.

i am so nervous because they won’t tell us when the decisions will be released

The wait is literally the worst thing ever initially i was confident i would get in but now i am actually really nervous about the decision maybe im not as qualified as I thought i was

Hopefully tomorrow. Many of my friends applying to other schools have received their email with an updated notification date during the day, like 12, so that might not necessarily come at 7.

did anyone actually call the admisssions people?

Hey guys, just keep in mind that everything happens for a reason and whether you get in or not everything will turn out for the best!

So we’re sure that the decisions will be coming out sometimes this week?

yes just stay strong

For all of you who applied ed, what kind of test scores and extracurriculars did you have so I can have an idea of what you need to have a chance and how you think you guys match up?

I applied ED, but I don’t really think I have a chance.
I am the president of a fundraiser, I am in National Honor Society, World Language Honor Society, Student Government, French Club, and a senior ambassador program. I also volunteer at the YMCA and have a job. I have played a sport every season of high school so far. I have a 4.2 GPA at a hard high school, however I have low test scores. I have a 30 on the ACT and a 1380 on the SAT. My mom is an alumn of Duke, so I’m just hoping that helps.

34-act
gpa:5.345 weighted, 3.96 unweighted

^^ I think you have a great shot.

Looked at the dates for the past few years and when they release it the week of the 15th, its a Wednesday and when they release the week before it’s usually Thursday. Seems like it’s gonna be Wednesday this year.

do you think we will get emails?

(applied to Trinity)
ACT: 35
SAT: 1480 (DNS)
GPA: 4.24 W, 3.82 UW (#5 public school in MA)
APs: 4/5s

Extracurriculars: 3 yrs varsity field hockey, 3 yrs varsity ski team (captain), 3 yrs varsity track, French club (president), French NHS, community service club, prom committee group leader, senior ambassador, volunteer at local organ donation center, captain’s council, and I work as a ski instructor

I’m also a legacy, but since my dad isn’t considered an active alumni and hasn’t donated I’m not sure how much of a boost that’ll give me. I’m hoping I have a chance, but it could honestly go either way. Good luck to everyone!!

yes they will come out by the 15th as it states on their website

Act-33 GPA-4.3
7 IB classes, diploma candidate and 5 AP classes
Most of my volunteering has to do with the refugee crisis, I travelled to Greece to help and raised over $1000. I’m currently a volunteer at World Relief which specializes in refugee resettlement in the US. Also 2 year captain of varsity Track, member of NHS and treasurer of several clubs. And I worked with a local science center camp counseling.
To be honest I think my grades significantly decrease my chances because I’ve gotten B-‘s in my IB bio and chem and a few B’s in some other classes but I’m applying for political science so I’m not sure how much my science and math classes will impact that. I got a 4 on my AP Calculus test without being in the class so maybe that will help? What do you guys think? More than anything I don’t want to be disappointed so I’m gearing up for rejection
