Duke Decision Date

@ Torcher: Same situation here. I’ll be going to Emory if I don’t get a good financial package from my other top choices.

Does anyone know if Duke sends the decisions through regular USPS mail or only via email?

they send you an email a couple days before with log in information to check your status but you can’t log in until monday

My son just received a “likely letter” in the mail today… I suppose that is what it is called? It was postmarked 3/22, arriving in IA on 3/25.

The wording of the first paragraph reads:

Greetings from Duke University! I am delighted to tell you that the Admissions Committee has reviewed your application, and we want to share with you the good news you are one of a small group of particularly outstanding applicants to Duke this year, a signal accomplishment in a pool of over 26,500 applicants. And while we will be mailing our decision letters quite soon, I wanted to give you an little bit of early good news that we fully expect to offer you admissions at that point.

Several paragraphs follow. You will note some grammatical errors- they are the admissions office’s- not mine.

@yorkiemom - Is your son an athlete who will participate in athletics at Duke?

Fla Pops- No, he is not an athlete of any sort. I do think that he is a strong candidate with top 1% scores, challenging classes (including college courses), national level awards in music composition, etc.

S was also a Duke TIP student for two summers- attending math courses at Davidson and Duke… I remember at a Duke TIP meeting on admissions for parents several years ago, they mentioned that 43% of the admitted students from a recent class had been involved with Duke TIP (if my memory is correct).

At the bottom part of the decision website it says

‘Please note that the PIN and password we will send you on Thursday, March 25 is distinct from your Admissions Checklist username and password.’

And i realized that i did not even receive the Admissions Checklist username and password…

have you all received it?

S will have to check his email for the PIN and password. I’ll post as soon as I know when he receives them.

mahedonist: I did!

i haven’t… but my email’s weird

i havent either

I got cornell & Upenn, not duke

I haven’t gotten my pin yet

No PIN from DUke yet here either (CA.) We already have a Duke ED from our HS.

@mahedonist:

The Admissions Checklist username/password arrived in an email sometime after his application was received (RD, so it was probably in January). The checklist became “active”/available for my son sometime in mid-February, if I remember correctly. Have you been checking the VIP page to check the status of your application?

[Duke University:VIP Page](http://duke.askadmissions.net/Vip/Default.aspx)

Here is the email he received:
