Just a question about financial aid- if you checked the applying for financial aid box and then did not complete the CSS or tax returns and such, does that affect how they view your application? Like will they are it as incomplete?

Nope! Your application will be considered complete and you’ll receive your decision.

I contacted Duke (and UChicago) with the same question because I haven’t completed my CSS Profile either (lol laziness). It’s only used for the college to give you an estimate of the financial award you’ll get near the time of your decision. (at least for ED)

I’m going to Duke no matter what if I get in, so having an estimate of how much aid I’ll get isn’t a big deal for me.

I’ll probably submit my CSS in a day or two…

Thanks so much! I got really worried when I logged in and saw it was due a while ago- phew!! I feel the same way haha, thank you.

Did you ED to Pratt or Trinity?

Trinity! You?

Trinity as well!

ED to trinity for Polisci and economics! So nervous

If we submitted the CSS profile along with the tax returns, does anyone know if and when Duke will send its financial aid estimate? Does it only send it to kids who are accepted?

I believe they send it with your admissions decision. I’d imagine they would only send it to kids who are accepted. I’m not entirely sure though. We didnt apply for aid.

ED to Trinity for Pre-Medicine

well, someone from admissions called my house two weeks ago because they didn’t have my financial aid information. if no one contacted you though, i wouldn’t worry about it.

Have they released an exact date and time for the decisions yet?

Last year Duke emailed ED applicants on 12/08 that the decisions would be coming out on 12/14 @ 6PM.

Cornell is going with a 13th notification date. Would not be surprised if that is the date for a lot of schools.

Brown is the 12th. Hopefully Duke will let us know soon haha

Hey all, I went ED to Dartmouth, Duke was my second choice. I was just wandering CC and found this. Just thought I’d drop in and comment to the previous posts. Dartmouth is potentially letting us know Dec 6th. A CC’er contacted admissions or something and got that date out of them today.

Lucky! Good luck!

What made you choose Dartmouth over Duke?

Anyone know what the procedure would be to add a piece of info to the Comon App?

Here’s the situation: DS has played JV Tennis (competitive school and he just learned to play before freshman year) for 2 years. Our school has policy that Seniors can’t play JV, so if he doesn’t make Varsity, he can’t play on the team Sr. year. So on Common App he checked the boxes for Soph and Jr. years. But now I think that may make it look like he’s not going to play senior year, or at least try. But tennis is a big part of his app and he even wrote an essay on how it has been a real challenge for him and how much time and hard work he has had to put into it to get good enough to play on the team. His last 3 summers have revolved around tennis. If he doesn’t make Varsity, he can be a JV assistant coach. But we didn’t mention this… Getting scared… any advice? Would it be appropriate to call admissions?

^^This is not a make-or-break issue. Especially with early decision, senior year activities are not always complete or even started by the time the apps are due. They know that it is only November and many sports are not happening yet. Furthermore, if your son were to be on the verge of acceptance, the fact that it is ambiguous whether he played a sport senior year would not be sole cause for rejection. If, for example, he is deferred and makes varsity later, then you would want to send that information in as part of an update.

Applying ED to Trinity for chemistry. Nervous, Duke’s been my dream school since I was ten. I’ve already been accepted to Tulane though, so at least I know I’ve got somewhere to go if Duke doesn’t work out.
