Duke ED Class of 2023 Discussion Thread

has anyone else heard the same thing about decisions being released on the 13th?

@bludreamer All Duke classes ended today and starting Saturday it’s reading week which is basically time off to study for finals which begin on Wednesday. So if it snows Monday there are no classes to be canceled. Follow today.duke.edu for their severe weather policy activation. FYI, I have a sophomore at Duke and a son applying ED to Pratt.

@sailcatmom I was talking about cancellation of classes in general for schools and colleges in NC if they have them scheduled for Monday. Anyways, snow won’t be a factor for delaying electronic decisions.

@bludreamer I personally would love to see the first snowfall up there. I’m from Florida and the humidity here is tiresome. Be careful this weekend!

Just a current Pratt senior dropping by to wish all of you the best luck in the upcoming decision release. Let me know if you have any questions regarding Duke/Admission process.

@newtrueblue Hey
I’ve applied to Pratt, could you please tell me the percentage of females in mechanical/electrical engineering. Would being a female applicant orientated towards mechanical engineering help my application?

@newtrueblue Hi, do you think being an international student from an “unpopular country” (applied for Trinity ED 2023) help the admission chance? I saw Duke 2021 and 2022 class profiles and there’s none admitted yet from my country.

@reviewwspo: I am more worried about your grammar. “The interviewer and I’s schedule …”. I think the word you are looking for is “my”.

one week! Good luck to everyone

Is sibling legacy considered?

@Poindexter: This was discussed previously, and it seems that someone with some knowledge said “yes,” but not as much as a parent. So, it’s a little bit of a boost.

@cat111111000 check out http://profiles.asee.org/profiles/7743/screen/20?school_name=Duke+University+

It’s a few years old, but may give some perspective.

Are decisions being released this Saturday for sure? I heard this Thursday might be an option.

@cviravec Based on the historical pattern, some of us believe decisions will be released on Thursday.

The waiting is unbearable, especially after my friends’ rejections from Stanford and Cal Tech. :-<

@cat111111000 If you go to (https://pratt.duke.edu/about) it says that approx. 35% of Pratt undergrad are females. As for ECE/ME specific breakdown, I do not know.

@philliph12 Duke is always looking to diversify its undergraduate population. So if you have competitive stats and you use your uniqueness to your advantage, I think it can definitely help.

@newtrueblue do you think majoring in classical studies (latin, Ancient Greek, Sanskrit, archaeology) could help my application? I’ve done a lot for classical studies

Does anyone have any interesting stats for Trinity? paulcord (37) mentioned this web http://profiles.asee.org/profiles/7743/screen/20?school_name=Duke+University+ but this one is for Pratt

Thanks

For anyone else, has your application portal become completely blank? Like with no checklist? Also is that a bad sign? I am so paranoid right now it is not fun
