Duke ED Class of 2023 Discussion Thread

Yes, for sure. It’s taken into consideration for your application.

Yeah they do. There was an old post on here that said that Dean Guttentag said during a speech that siblings counted as legacy but only for early decision.

honestly im not nervous or excited. I thought I’d be more scared at the prospect of getting rejected and more excited at the prospect of getting accepted but like every since cornell college seems a lot more random and not as a huge of a deal. idk why obisouly it’;s a huge deal maybe it just doesn’t feel real lol idk tho. good luck to everyone!! less than 2 day…

when will the mailed result come in?

Tomorrow’s the day!

^omg

it’s still tuesday on the west coast so it feels a bit longer

@sanjanagupta1 I couldn’t agree more. I think I was more scared in September than now. P.s. Cornell results were shocking! The ones I thought will get in didn’t and vice-versa.

Does anyone know about what percentage of deferred ED applicants end up getting accepted RD?

Who else is super nervous for tomorrow? I can’t stop thinking about it!

I saw this somewhere. Last year I think there were approximately 880 deferred and around 100 got in. I went to an information session at Duke and I remember them saying something about a change in policy this year for deferred, or maybe waitlisted applicants? I can’t remember what it was though. Does anyone know what I’m talking about?

I can resonate with @devildeferred 1000% - my past 3+ years at Duke were the best years of my life thus far. I remember opening up my portal for RD, expecting to see “Thank you for your interest” but seeing “Congratulations!” instead. I was part of the Cameron Crazies shouting “We want Harvard” at Duke vs. Yale game, I remember pulling countless all-nighters during the finals week with some of my closest friends (but still ended up bombing some exams  ), grabbing meals with high-profile visitors (Nikki Haley, Joe Dunford etc), and just being part of every-day conversations with my friends. I sincerely hope all of you here are lucky enough to call this place your home.

Parent ED Agreement Submitted: 10/26/2018

^ mine says submitted

Our school in Southern California usually doesn’t have a lot of students EDing Duke, but this year there are at least 6 people. I feel so unfortunate. I hope number of applicants in the same school doesn’t matter much, and I wish AOs will not compare me with students from my high school.

i’m so nervous to find our tmrw - 8 people eded from my school it’s never happened before

Tick Tock! Good luck everyone.
