my sat is 1410 and i have a 4.0 GPA (it could be more than 4.0 but my school doesnt really use that scale)
and sadly i did not take two SAT subject tests.
Duke said it recommends 2 SAT II scores, but i decided too late to apply there. Would it be against me if i do not submit 2 sat subject tests? after all, the website says duke RECOMMENDS it (not REQUIRES)
what are my chances of getting in? Probably 0.0000000000000000000000000000001 in my opinion but i just wanna hear what others have to say
SAT is rather low for Duke. Your chances don’t look AMAZING, but there is no harm in applying regular decision. Who knows, you might be surprised!
Recommends is usually a less harsh way of saying required (because they don’t want people who cannot afford to take these tests to feel discouraged from applying).
Wish you the best of luck! Remember that you will end up at the right school for you. The college process does not define you as a person.
Last year the RD acceptance rate was just under 10% (I think it was about 9%). So you have about a one in 10 chance of getting accepted. This is far higher than 0.00000000000000000000001.
If they say “recommended” they mean it. It was recently changed from “required”. So if you have a valid reason for not taking the SAT 2, then don’t worry. Just apply. What do you have to lose?
