Thanks purpleacorn. That helped tons.

Absolutely. That looks semi-current (the dates are all right, at least), but I know that there were some very minor changes to the policy this year that may or may not be reflected on that site. Michigan and UNC games are tent-able this year, and the first line-up event of the year is the Countdown to Craziness event this Friday. (In the spirit of sharing info Iâve picked up.)

I will mention that among the worst possible starts to an answer a student can give to a faculty member when asked why an assignment is late is, âWell, I was black tentingâŠâ That generates the instant âOh, HELL no!â At least for me :)

Practical advice like this is why we love you. I will pass along this coaching tip to my kid â assuming I can reach him while heâs in the line-up for âCountdown to Craziness.â

Doesnât that fall under common sense? (I would hope, anyways.) Dear God.

Anybody watch the game tonight? Son was in third row - becoming one of the Cameron Crazies. My Dukie wife is so proud.

My S was there as well but I tried to find it on tv and I donât think we get it here (NY). Maybe it was available on the computer but I didnât check.

It was on ESPN U around here.

Great game - the team looks better than ever this year - so exciting. @garetville - I am sure you had it on your TV in NY - just look up what channel ESPNU is on. They are also broadcasting the Duke football game tomorrow afternoon. We will be going to the UCLA game at Madison Square Garden in December with my Duke Son - canât wait!

My freshman daughter tried to show up just before game time but was turned away. I assume the large crowd was in part due to it being the first game. Hopefully she will have more success in the future - she is busy with other activities and would prefer to not stand in line for excessive periods.

My S started to get in line with friends at 9:00 AM. He said that 1/3 of the group had to be present at all times. He got to be in the 4th row. I donât believe that showing up just before game time will be very successful. The student section isnât really that big - judging from when we were there on parent weekend.

rmldad - I think all games will be this crowded, not just the first one

My S was also in line with friends at 9 AM to get seats. They took shifts to ensure that 1/3 of the group was always there. He says it was âthe best school-spirity thing heâs ever been to.â

dadotwoboys is correct here. Students wonât be able to walk up just before any home game and get in. The best scenario is get with three friends or so and line up sometime in the morning. They need to coordinate their schedules so 1/3 of the group is in line at all timesâŠthey have line monitors who track that. For some games this year they will be able to line up just a few hours before the game and get in. I was actually on campus on Friday visiting my sophmore daughter who was giving an admisssions tour that finished over near Cameron around 12:30 and the line was fairly small actually.

rmldad - Hope your daughter gets into a few games this year, not too hard to do they just have to invest a few hours. Nothing like a Duke basketball game at Cameron. On a different noteâŠsince I was in town I attended the football game on Saturday night and what a great show of support. Duke football is no longer a jokeâŠ7-2 record and the place was rocking!!! Last home game of the year this Saturday and itâs a big one against MiamiâŠencourage your kids to go they will have a great time.

Does anyone have insight whether the student athletes get tickets to the games? I canât imagine they also wait for hours for tickets, but could possibly be so.

Is there any place to watch Duke games other than ESPNU? Do they stream them online someplace? I would love to see the Duke-KU game tomorrow. TIA.

Duke-KU game is on ESPN and yes they are also streamed online. We were able to see every Duke Basketball game last year either on TV or online.

rmldad-- Todayâs story in the Chronicle (and one of the line monitors on Facebook) mentioned how low the turnout was for last nightâs game against UNC-Asheville (presumably because it was a Monday night) and short the walk-up line was, respectively. If your D has an open evening that coincides with a home game, she may have better luck?

[Duke basketball routs UNC-Asheville in front of small home crowd | The Chronicle](http://www.dukechronicle.com/articles/2013/11/19/duke-basketball-routs-unc-asheville-front-small-home-crowd)

Also my S went to last Fri niteâs game and didnât get on line until right before game time and he got seats. He said it was not against anyone good so it wasnât as popular.

I just texted with DD - she is at a stressful point of the semester with just a couple weeks of classes left. She would rather study than invest a few hours going to tonightâs game. She also left Satudayâs football game at halftime to finish a lab - and missed the exciting ending. I guess I should be proud of her for making responsible decisions, but I worry that she is missing the full Duke experience.

Maybe in January/February when there is less pressureâŠ

Duke will also be into their ACC schedule and then it wonât be so easy to just walk up at game time and get in
