How are the non-greek parties at Duke? I know that students have a lot of work, but on the Friday and Saturday nights, are there some good parties for non-greeks? Are they usually huge in number of people attending or on the small side (like below 50)? If you would be able to describe the party scene that would be great.

Squareroot9, Fear not! The Blue Devil wants to let you know that all tiny Blue Devils have a great time on campus, even if they are Independent. As a Freshman, you will be treated with respect and benevolence as each student will be excited to meet and get to know you. As a matter of fact, being a Freshman is often said to be the best time of your four years, but hey, you’ll have four years to figure that out, so let’s not get ahead of ourselves! At the number one college ever, you will make incredible friends and make even more incredible memories with those incredible friends–now that’s something to get excited about!

I would like to make it clear that Fraternities and Sororities do not have the social scene in a complete choke hold; there are veritable social events outside of the Greek realm. However, it should be noted that many, many people do party at Fraternities as they simply provide the easiest venue for getting to know your fellow Dukies. The general rule of thumb is that if you know about a party happening, you can go to it. Unless the Fraternity or Sorority is having an exclusive mixer with another Frat/Srat, then the likelihood is that they will be open to having you at their festivities. Typical frat parties tend to be about 60-100 strong, while the bigger parties will attract up to 400. This being said, there is always a range. You will very rarely ever find something with below thirty students, unless it is a specific club party or a party meant to be on the lower scale of things. Bigger, section parties will attract the three digit crowds. The typical Fraternity party will range in the 50-80 range.

The Blue Devil has visited many other colleges (of course, I have to!), and beyond having many friends at Ivy Leagues and in California, I can tell from my experiences at Number One American College (read as: DUKE!) and my experiences at other respectable institutions of higher learning that Duke is in a league of its own when it comes to combining a world-class education, national championship level athletics, a very very attractive student body, and face-melting good times. Simply put, no one back home whether they go to Harvard, Princeton, Cornell, Rutgers, or Providence can tell the same stories that Blue Devil does.

Hahahahahahahah^ This post is SO epic.
TheBlueDevil, are you paid to post about Duke on CC?
If not, you’re devotion is impressive.

I’m not paid at all by the school, though I will be sure to ask them how they would feel on the subject. I’m simply a student who loves Duke and wants to share that love with others. The fact that I also have many friends at an assortment of other universities as well as an incredibly in depth knowledge on the admissions’ process / campus life of other universities puts me in a very unique situation, being able to answer any and all of your questions regarding both Duke and other schools!

I love The Blue Devil’s third person voice. haha

He (or she) should write the brochure for Duke. That was basically the best post I’ve seen on CC, ever.
