I just got an email from Duke saying they've received my application. The only problem is, I've withdrawn from the school... twice. I called in a month ago to request my application be withdrawn, then called a week later to make sure it had been done. They said I had to fax in a paper with a signature and authorization because they have problems with students withdrawing others on their behalves, so I did this, made it official, assumed it was all taken care of. Now I get this. I withdrew because I have a few friends applying and didn't want to give them undue school competition, seeing that I'm already into a school I'll definitely be going to. What's more, when a guy called to set up an interview, I explained to him my situation, that I was going to a different school and withdrawing my app. I also didn't fill out any of the extra essays which I would have done, seeing that I've done some pretty quality research. I was told that should I have applied to Duke I'd have an extremely good chance of getting in, and I'd rather not a) potentially hurt my friends and b) get a rejection letter from sending in an incomplete app. What do I do?

PS I kinda want to keep it in to be able to see their admit weekend, assuming I get in.

Beef: are you or are you not going to keep it in? If you feel that keeping it in will decrease your friends' chances and you already know you are going to attend Stanford (lucky son of a gun...;)), then I would probably take it out and make yourself feel better. That's what I would have done if I had applied to Stanford SCEA. You should really try to figure this out though, you don't want to get a rejection letter when you don't really want to apply (although you do know that it will not be considered "incomplete" because, assuming you applied to Trinity, the essay was OPTIONAL). Also, you would not have received the UGA response if it were incomplete, at least that's what I'm assuming.

Beef: look up your regional rep and e-mail that person directly, and just explain the situation and thank them for their consideration.

dpattz, I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet.

No problem afterall.

So I'm assuming you're fine with the withdrawal?

I have no feelings either way. I kinda wanted to see their admit weekend but who cares... I'M GOING TO STANFORD BABY!
