Withdrawing

How did all the acceptees withdraw their applications? Did you send an e-mail or a letter? To whom did you send it? I'm kind of confused how I should go about doing this... It's a pain, but it's better than getting rejected!

Also, if I haven't COMPLETED the entire thing yet, do I still have to withdraw? I haven't submitted my teacher recs to Columbia... Will they automatically take me off the list?

I had only submitted the pre-app form to washington university, but I emailed the admissions dept. anyway. they appreciated this, as it allowed them to close my file, and not waste any mailings on me.
i'd advise that you email your schools so they can close your file...and so they know that you got in to Princeton!!
"I am emailing to withdraw my application to ______, as I have been accepted to princeton university early decision......" hehe

I composed a letter and faxed it to each school.......I also gave my college counseling office a confirm and copy for each school to document my actions in case of a problem.

I wrote a brief letter to each school. (My mom had this whole thing about handwritten notes being nicer than an email... goodness).

cool, i was confused at a point too, i have to do the same thing for temple, drexel and columbia also

Btw I think closing your file - even if it isn't complete - is just a nice thing to do so that the admissions department doesn't waste its time and energy figuring out if they lost something or contacting you.
