I got an e-mail some time ago, telling me things are missing, but I didn't have time to send in everything on time. Worried, I called them, and I was told to send stuff in via fax so they won't be late.

I sent in a fax on a Friday, and when I called then they said to call back on Monday. I did, and a lady said it seems like she got my fax, but as for a fax from the person who wrote my college official's form, I'd have to check with someone else. I was put on the line with someone else who did not answer, so I left a message with my phone number. Heard nothing back.

And today I got an e-mail saying my application's been canceled due to incomplete application. What the heck?

The things that were missing were NOT my fault, either- my college didn't send out my transcript although I have receipts to prove it (I suppose it got lost in the mail), and same with the college official's form. I'm going to call Duke tomorrow but either way I'm super freaked out and nervous and I just had to talk.

Application? Decisions came out nearly a month ago…

But in any case, I know someone that was in the same situation last year. He applied to Stanford (among other schools), but our high school’s incompetent student services didn’t send Stanford the mid-year report, so in the end, his application was canceled (which he could do nothing about).

You can try calling Duke and hoping that they’ll make an exception; I hope you have better luck than that Stanford applicant that I knew.

Daughter also got an email about missing components of her transfer application. That email contained the information that applications for which not everything was received would be canceled after a specific date. I would assume the OP’s email included the same information/deadline and should have motivated her to contact Duke and send her materials immediately.
