I don’t think legacy counts unless accompanied by a history of donations. I have a very competitive friend who was denied at NU with both parents being alums and another competitive friend got denied at JHU with legacy, minority status, national science fair and over 1500 SAT.
The one thing I’ve learned this year is that anything goes.
I don’t know what they mean, but I’ve been there multiple times and Durham is great. Amazing food and pretty lively. For a small town, it didn’t feel too rural or quiet.
Yeah, I think they just do a “second read” for legacy applicants. They aren’t trying to pick the best, but rather pick a class that meets their criteria for talent, diversity, majors of interest, yield, etc. That’s why the selection process feels random. It’s not just test scores and grades.
guys…
I still have the financial aid checklist active, and I know that the decisions are coming out in about less than 3 hours. does that mean anything or that anyone else have their checklist is still active?
They’re releasing financial aid with decisions (obviously only admissions), so the checklist probably needs to stay for admitted students which is why they’re leaving it there for everyone. Idk that’s just a guess though
So this is what happens when really smart people get really anxious? They start counting tulips, and coming up with various mathematical equations to justify their outcomes? Fun!
Emory, Boston University, Northeastern, University of Rochester, UCSD, and some other safety schools, but I have 0 expectations of getting into Duke. I applied by the priority interview deadline but never received an interview invitation so I’m pretty positive that that is a bad sign lol.
