Duke University Class of 2025 — Regular Decision

S21 Accepted, but had already gotten a likely on Friday
International, legacy, no interview, RD

Accepted: Michigan, UCLA, Berkley, CMU and Rice
Rejected: Cal Tech, MIT
Waitlist: Chicago
Pending: Penn, Harvard

Duke now moves into the lead. Would take Duke over Penn, but not over Harvard (and we expect that acceptance rate to be minuscule).

What a brutally harsh acceptance rate.

35 ACT, good subject tests, 2nd in class
very good extracurriculars and accepted to Vandy and UNC oos

I’m honestly kind of confused but it’s all good you can’t win them all

not me getting my 3rd waitlist lmao. :’) (Emory & Vandy being the others)
34 ACT, 4.0/4.56, in-state, etc.

i just wonder what it is about my application that is, universally, ALMOST good enough but not quite.
EDIT: still got into UNC so no major stress from me, UNC’s a fabulous school, just wondering.

just remember it’s all very random - I got into Vandy but flat out rejected by Duke. You’re doing great and you got this!

Wait what happens in 24 hrs? Are you referring to Ivy Day?

Yeah Ivy Day is tomorrow.

D21 was rejected. Her first rejection so far. She has some great options - Vandy, Rice, BC (Gabelli scholar), UNC (OOS) etc.

def do vandy

All terrific options, but very different. I’m sure you /she will do the research and figure out what is best!

For those accepting the waitlist, this is what I found on Duke’s portal: “In the last several years, around 1,000 students a year have decided to stay on Duke’s waiting list. We consider the waiting lists in Trinity College of Arts & Sciences and the Pratt School of Engineering separately. In the last decade, the number we have been able to accept from the waiting list in each school has ranged from a low of 1 to a high of 200”.
Apparently they will notify us if we got off the waitlist between early May & early July.
