Duke vs Brown Economics

I cannot decide where to apply ED, please help me choose. I want to know anything you can tell, including your opinion. Difficulty, job placement etc. Thanks.

They will be similar. Take a look at the environments though because Duke and Brown are quite different places. I think Duke has nicer architecture. :)

They are two INCREDIBLY different schools. But in terms of difficulty and job placement, you’ll find that they’re quite similar. Student caliber at both schools is high and job opportunities after graduation is great for both schools. Thus, these variables should not be the deciding factor for your decision.

My advice would be to visit both (if possible). I personally never even considered Brown because because the atmosphere there didn’t quite jive. There isn’t much helpful information that you can glean from the internet about this decision.

I read somewhere that Duke is one of Wall Street’s favorite schools for recruiting, and Emma Rasiel is a really good economics professor. She used to be the Executive director of Goldman Sachs in London, and earned an MBA from Wharton at UPenn.

If you’re at all interested in finance, you may be interested to know that Duke is starting a new concentration within the econ major for financial econ, as well as adding a financial econ minor.
