I found a box of wooden pencils and took for granted that all wooden pencils anyone would ever buy are #2. Turns out, I used Ticonderoga 2.5 pencils on my SAT today. Has anyone else done this before? Will my test scan properly? :/

If it doesn’t, you can always call them and have them hand-grade it. If your score is higher after a manual regrade, then there is no charge.

I wouldn’t worry about it. The Scantron technology is so advanced that it can read pen marks, ect. As long as the letter is covered it will read.

Don’t sweat it. Guys from my area usually use a varying assortment of pencils in the SAT, and there wasn’t a case where their exam didn’t scan properly. Even if the scanner turned up blank, the proctors will manually mark your paper themselves. Only caveat in this case is the delay of scores.
