I know this has been asked before and I even searched through old pages to try to find the answers, BUT -- if I'm using the Common Application, does my Common App essay count as one of the essays Princeton asks for, or do I need to write 2 essays of 250 words and 1 essay of 500 words in addition to the Common App essay?

Actually I'm kind of confused about this too. I'm using the Pt application, so I thought I'm expected to write 3 essays. But, from the stats and accepted/deferred lists, it seems like some people wrote 4 essays, one of which optional. Since I don't have much EC or awards, I'm thinking it might actually help to write one more essay. Anyone got answers?

You write:
* a 500 word essay from the common app.
* two 250 word essays from the princeton supplement
* a BSE statement if you plan to study engineering

and for the pton app queston (NOT the common app), I did:
1 500 word
2 250 words
1 700 extra (supplement) essay
and a 250 for my last two summers
= 5 essays!!

Nice to see you too, Nickleby :) Thankfully, I sent in most of my applications awhile ago, which I'm certain now was a good decision since I haven't exactly been in the mood for the past few days.

I wrote mine about an EC I'm involved in that I felt needed some clarification. I was following the advice of, "If you think there's any question(s) that the adcoms might have, answer it in the supplemental essay."

Princeton has its own application, and I will fill it out depending on time constraints and if I find that it can convey my strengths. If I do fill it out, it also has different teacher recommendation forms to fill out. This would be a burden on the teachers, so should I use the common-app forms with Princeton's application or just have them fill out both.
