Here's something I don't understand. I am getting duplicate requests for tax returns from IDOC and IDOC member colleges. I thought that IDOC passed on the tax returns and W-2's and 1099's to each of its members.

I sent in the returns and all other data to IDOC by March 1, but when I go to the IDOC member web site of a college that was applied to, it says send us your tax returns.

The college sites tend to be woefully behind. If your IDOC says received, you should be fine. S. applied to Brown, Hopkins and Yale. All 3 IDOC-ed us and we mailed our materials on Feb 24. The IDOC just put up the “received” message even though the USPS trackers says they got it on Feb 26. I would not send anything directly to the schools. IDOC will handle it.

So it is a lag time issue? Why don’t the colleges put “send return and w-2’s” through IDOC instead of “we need returns and w-2’s”

I dont know the answer to that, but if it’s an IDOC school, they submit those docs directly after you submit your required cover sheet and materials.

Does your College Board IDOC status show that they have sent the items to the member school? If you just submitted around March 1 which was a big deadline for many IDOC schools, you will probably see the status change next week. I would try not to worry just yet, and I would strongly advise against sending your sensitive documents again unless absolutely necessary. The process already lends itself to identity theft galore!
