Hey! First off, I'm a very liberal-artsy kinda gal who's totally in love with the idea of going to Uva. When I read about it and look at pictures of the campus, I honestly feel like crying because it's so beautiful and seems so wonderful. Thing is, I think I have no shot.

Here are my stats/credentials:
Out of State: New York
Soph PSAT: 95%
Jr PSAT: 92%
SAT: 1870 (Low, i know, I didn't study for it the 1st time and will retake it in November)
AP Spanish Language: 2 (ekk)
AP World History: 4
Will take SAT II in Bio and US History in October
Unweighted GPA: 3.56 = 88.8
My school is one of the best public ones in the country and does not rank its student body. Most of the students would be in the top 10% of their graduating class if they had attended their regular zoned schools. My freshman average was also 84 but since then my average has been above 90 (93 soph yr, no APs & 90 jr yr w/ 2 APs)

-Art club(freshman year)
-foreign film club(jr & sr)
-Red Cross(jr & sr)
-mentor to young teens
-tutor to jr. high school students
-1000 Crane foundation
-"Big Sib" - helping incoming freshman in my school learn the ropes
-I will be participating in a program involving the law-making process and we will be working with council members from our districts (very exclusive)
-Played piano for 3 years
-Will begin guitar lessons
-Currently taking a college course after schools (English)
-worked as a secretary in a hospital this past summer

Stats from the 2005 graduating class of my school:
Avg GPA accepted to Uva - 90.63
17 applied, 6 accepted

I'm just having a terribly hard time gauging my chances. My friend has almost identical credentials, but with a GPA 2 points lower (mines is 88.8, hers' is 86.9) and her college advisor put it as a target for her.

If I have no chance let me know.

Thanks for your time!

-Julie
