E-bill updated once a month?

So, here's where I'm conflicted.
Since E-bill is only updated once a month then how do we know what we owe once financial aid is disbursed? Do we check our "quick statement" on CARS to see the current balance?
My August CARS bill says I owe $7000+ while my quick statement says my balance is $600+. Do I just pay the $600+ for the bill?

Yes, the quick statement is updated when you make payments, it may be a day out of date but more current than the e-bill. think of e-bill as a picture that was taken on one day of your account - the picture never changes even though you may have payments, credits and new charges coming in on the other days.

Your e-bill for August will never change. It will stay in your account history and you can go back and see that exact set of numbers as long as you are at Cal. There is a September e-bill that will be produced near the end of August - that will show all the updates between the earlier e-bill and the day they picked to produce the new e-bill.

It is an online system that is showing you a antique, printed paper bill. Just like a paper bill, it will never change on its own, it is just replaced by a newer paper bill a month later.

Fortunately, there are CARS quick statement and payment history views that show changing values as your account is changed.

ok. Gotcha.
So, then since my Quick Statement balance is $636, is that all I owe for this month? If so, do I just pay $636 even though the bill says $7000?

Also, is it weird that my Quick Statement and Payment Summary are dated As Of June 18? Does that mean it’s not updated?

My son’s quick statement is dated June 18th also and it is up to date. Looks like you are fine.

yeah just follow your quick statement and pay that amount unless your financial aid covers it
