<p>thanks asig for calling. rolling? with athletes but i didn't think with ed. can you imagine if you heard someone got in today..... then everyone would be calling. I'm sure admissions doesn't want that. in reading the decision posts in the past i've never read a post saying they got in a couple days before the rest were notified. at least they didn't say it will definately be the 15th. we still have hope to find out sooner. i was wondering what the e-mail will say. I hope it's not, "congratulations on being an excellent student....but.....maybe Happy Mom can tell us what the e-mail MIGHT say?</p>

<p>The person on the phone was probably mistaken. I called 5 minutes ago and the woman said that decisions would be released mid-December. When I asked if they had a specific date, she simply said nope.</p>

<p>There is no way it would be rolling. Surely they would have the majority of decisions made by now, and nobody has heard. The only thing I have seen that is marginally reminiscent of rolling is that some schools e-mail all the rejections first, then deferrals, then acceptances. But within the span of a half an hour.</p>

<p>Hey, at least get my name right!!</p>

<p>As I recall, my son got an email from Dartmouth a few days before the 8th -- no, I don't remember exactly what day -- telling him that admissions decisions would be posted on the secure website by December 8 at 3:00 PM Eastern. To get into that website -- dartmouth.edu/apply/admissions/status -- one needed one's UserID and PIN, which Dartmouth had provided so you could check the status of the application.</p>

<p>I was obsessively checking the site every 15 minutes (my son said I could; he was in school and then had wrestling practice), and the results were actually up around 2:45 PM.</p>

<p>When I logged in, I knew the news was good because the first word was "Congratulations!" I glanced at the second sentence and didn't actually read the rest of it until the next day.</p>

<p>By the way, Dartmouth sent hardcopy notification out on thursday, Dec 7, which arrived at our house on Saturday, December 9 -- but by then we already knew the good news from the website.</p>

<p>They must be tired of answering the phone in the admissions office at D. Imagine if they had caller-ID and simply rejected every anxious caller. It could be a novel and nightmarish way of screening applications. ;)</p>
