E-mail from bryn mawr

wow, my love for bryn mawr just increased.

i just received an e-mail from them and it was probably the nicest thing i’ve read in a while with the admin commenting on everything from my essays to my name! is bryn mawr always so personal and intimate? it was great to hear from them, how about you ladies?

That's one of the great things I looooove about BMC, their caring attitude. And for me, it seems that whenever I talk to BMC that attitude and happiness to help is always there! From when I went up there, to my acceptance and financial aid decision(Which I got yesterday! - a major plus). Anyway, it's one of the main reasons it's my dream school.

girlfriend of DS has gotten nice emails from an adcom at BM and also from the chair of the English dept - I keep telling her it must mean good things

hi everyone! i definitely agree about this aspect of bryn mawr. after i went on my first visit during spring break last year, i received a post card from the student who had led my tour. i wasn't sure whether it was a standard at bmc's admissions office; i just thought it was so wonderful that i got a handwritten note! also, the admissions officers are amazing--i think some of them remember who each one of us is after only one meeting :-)

You know what's funny? Two days ago, I read this thread and panicked because they hadn't been talking to me. I live in California, and I felt extremely isolated. But then I got my decision, and suddenly, all of the worrying seems for naught. In some ways, I wish that they were more aloof before the decisions were official. It caused me a great deal of anxiety and, likely, did the same to many others.

(Though, I adored the handwritten note in the decision!!)

me too, shanabelle

I was so anxious too when I heard about other people getting notes and phone calls and stuff, but the decision calmed my fears... :)

I can't wait!! Bryn Mawr College Class of 2010!

I really want an e-mail commenting about my essays and stuff... i just got an e-mail about information on the campus visiting days, the 2010 website and some other stuff.

Yeah, I think I'd like that kind of email too. I got my Scripps decision and there was a note attached that called me "courageous and determined" so I don't think Bryn Mawr is the only school to employ this kind of personal touch.

I received the e-mail about open-campus and the 2010 website, seriously, about 2 minutes before the mail lady delivered my acceptance packet. And, with the title of "congratulations..." I couldn't help but think!!

So, who's planning on going to open campus? So far, I'm planning to go by myself, but my mom is trying to change her flight home from Vancouver, so that she can accompany me- since she knows it's one of my top choices!

So my email from Bryn Mawr was buried under others and I didn't see it until late today. I was so happy to find it!
I probably can't go to open campus, as I'm across the country and hadn't planned on visiting.

That's right. Whether a school does this is a marketing decision, and it seems to be getting more popular. Some of the unlikeliest institutions take this approach (e.g., the law school at Georgetown University, which is the biggest law school in the country and does not enjoy Bryn Mawr's reputation for personal attention, sends handwritten, personal notes to each admit).

Since being admitted, I have gotten MANY emails from Bryn Mawr...kinda nice. I got an email about the arts, about the open campus days, a day in the life of a Bryn Mawr student, etc.

See, I've gotten a lot of really personal emails too. I got the ones she mentioned, as well as ones about volunteering (I did a LOT of mentoring in high school) and a few from the admissions rep that went to my school back in November. It feels awesome.
