My friend’s son’s status is currently at “in the coming days”… Never got an email… He should be hearing very soon…So I’m guessing the email is automatically generated to those whose status has been stuck after a certain amount of weeks in the “when one is made” phase… Maybe admissions does this because not everyone checks My
Penn State??? (Not us, hahaha… We check it obsessively @-)

i got the email today as well

@PSUMom1321 You aren’t the only one! My D asked in the chat if they can tell how often we check the status, and they said they can tell when we logged in last, but not how often we log in! Thank goodness, because I check several times a day - she gets too nervous to check so I am just supposed to tell her when the “coming days” status appears!

I got the same email today and my status also changed to “…coming days.” Not sure if this is a coincidence or not but good luck to all!

Good luck @Banquo ! We are still at same status but it’s encouraging that you got the Email today but status changed before January!

My DD did not get an email prior to acceptance - Eberly College of Science. Maybe the email is something new. I don’t remember anyone talking about getting an email when my older DD applied 3 years ago. It could be that this is their way of touching base with applicants that have been in the “review” status for awhile. I also think the Rolling Admissions label is inaccurate. Three years ago we were told apply by Nov 30 hear back by Jan 31; Dec 31 ->Feb 28; Jan 31-> March 31; etc. It doesn’t sound any different now. Good luck to everyone!

I think it’s pretty clear, at least to me, that yesterday’s email went to everyone who got their application materials in before the Nov 30 deadline, regardless of when they submitted them. However, if an offer was made earlier, then those people did not get yesterday’s email (unless they were simultaneous notifications). Also, I do not see any posts from people who have already been denied, so there’s no proof yet that “very qualified and very unqualified” applicants hear first. It seems that only a subset of the high-credentialed applicants are hearing first. That subset may be targeted for eng, bus, etc.

of the five people i know that were accepted so far, 4 were engineering and one was business. i applied for engineering and my status is at the “…coming days” point so im assuming most of the decisions were for engineering and business.

I saw a couple communications and pre vet majors as well…but so far the acceptances do seem to be skewed towards engineering and Smeal.

Daughter’s status changed to coming days either yesterday or today!

Have any DUS kids heard yet?

No DUS here. But another acceptance for a Comm kid.

my D applied DUS so I’ve been watching. I’ve not seen any DUS acceptances yet. PSU admissions told me yesterday that only a very small percentage of notifications have gone out. The vast majority of applicants have not heard yet.

I’m so glad I’m not the only obsessive-compulsive status checker in this group. Being a mom is hard work! Good luck everyone!
@PSUGradMom you are definitely not alone! There are many here who have been waiting a long time and are anxious…the good news is, the “not knowing” will end soon!
Trying to distract myself from the waiting. Anyone in this tread seeing status updates start rolling through in the last day or so?
Nothing at all… hope that changes soon! This waiting is painful…
So based on the discussions I have seen on this website, yesterday my status changed to, “We are in the final stages of review and an admissions decision will be posted here in the coming days.” and the picture is of University Park. Does this mean that I have a high chance of being accepted? I heard that if the picture is of the satellite campus you probably got in there. My satellite campus is Altoona but my first choice is UP. I applied in September and this is the first change in status in about 2-3 months so I am ecstatic but worried that I won’t get in. Any perspectives will help, thanks!
@dhanvit If you put an alternate campus on your application and your picture is still showing as UP after your “coming days” status, then you most likely got in to UP!! Congratulations! The picture change thing seems to be very accurate with students who put an alternate campus. If someone didn’t put their alternate campus, then the picture may not change even though they were denied. But it seems like you got into UP! Glad to see they are updating statuses over the weekend. Do you know what time your status changed? They seem to be updating all over the place.
@jlhpsu I’m not sure when exactly the status changed, I’m guessing it was friday because i know they don’t usually update the status on weekends. But it could have been saturday. I’m so used to seeing the the first few words of “we…” so I did not look at it closely, I just realized today that they changed the status. But thank you I hope I get in because it is my dream school and if I don’t get in I honestly don’t know what to do. But thank you!
